Is Liposuction Required for an Arm Lift?

arms

Many men and women visit our practice with the goal of toned upper arms. However, an arm lift is designed to eliminate excess skin—not necessarily to reduce fat. During arm lift surgery, an incision is made on the inside of the arm that goes from the elbow to the underarm area. This allows our plastic surgeons to tighten, smooth, and re-drape the skin for a smoother, more contoured upper arm.

If you also have excess fat in the upper arm that is unresponsive to traditional means of weight loss, liposuction can be used during the arm lift procedure to slim the arm as well. With the ability to target nearly any area of the body to address isolated pockets of fat, liposuction can be used to enhance the results of an arm lift for more comprehensive results.

During the consultation, your plastic surgeon will perform a physical examination, review your unique cosmetic goals, and help determine which procedure or combination of procedures can best meet your expectations. To schedule a consultation with The Ottawa Clinic, please contact our office today.
