Under Eye Treatment

Why do we have age related changes like fine lines and wrinkles and pigmentation under eyes.

The delicate skin under eyes can quickly develop fine lines, wrinkles, dark circles, brown spot and bags, causing us to look tired, worn and older that we are.

These under-eye concerns can be caused by a multitude of factors:

  1. Genetics: hyperpigmentation due to excess melanin production
  2. Collagen loss and Ageing; as we age our skin gets thinner due to collagen loss, underlying vascularity becomes more visible
  3. Sun exposure: too much sunlight can cause melanin production. The UV rays will aggravate pigmentation and contribute to premature aging
  4. Allergies and nasal congestion: you could find that your undereye circles can worsen if you have a blocked nose or have allergies. Congestion can cause pooling of the blood in the undereye area making them look darker.
  5. Lack of sleep and dehydration

Given the multifactorial causes, treatment often works best when it addresses both the pigment and the underlying skin structure.

At The Ottawa Clinic, we understand how frustrating it can be to rely on concealer or ineffective creams with minimal results. That’s why we offer a comprehensive, non-invasive treatment strategy that targets every cause of under-eye darkness—leaving you with brighter, more youthful-looking eyes.

1. Topical creams that improve both pigmentation and texture

Grenczine eye from Vivier

A growth factor eye cream designed to target loss of volume and sagging around the eye area.

Main ingredients as Polyamine Growth factor, Vitamin C and 6 Renewal complexes help will help to increase thickness, firmness and hydration of the delicate skin around the eyes. You may notice fine lines may look less visible and the skin appears uplifted, refreshed and luminous.

2. BroadBand Light (BBL) for Vascularity and Pigment

BBL (BroadBand Light) is an advanced form of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) that uses short blasts of high-intensity light to target pigmentation and redness.

BBL stimulates the cells to regenerate allowing the skin to appear smoother, more even and vibrant skin. The photothermal energy will eliminate fine vessels that cause redness and reduce unwanted melanin, causing the unwanted pigmentation to fade.

3. Fraxi (1927nm)

Fraxi is a non ablative fractionated laser that stimulates collagen production in the dermis and is an effective device in treating fine lines, wrinkles and overall pigmenation. Fraxi specifically targets and breaks up the concentration of melanin (pigment) in the skin and stimulates the body’s natural healing process, promoting new cell production and faster skin cell turnover. As the damaged skin cells are replaced by new ones, the hyperpigmented areas gradually fade.

Why does the combination therapy work?

When it comes to under-eye circles, there is rarely one silver bullet. Combining topicals with active ingredients, BBL, and Fraxi tackles the problem from all angles:

Treatment Target Benefit
Topicals   Pigmentation & collagen loss   Brightens and improves skin thickness
BBL   Pigment & vascular visibility   Reduces brown spots and redness
Moxi   Texture & fine lines   Smooths, tightens, and refreshes skin

This integrated approach delivers both immediate and long-term results.
